Administration: post counter synchronized (long!)

Some time ago automatic pruning has been enabled for the tournament forum. Because the post counter is not synchronized with the pruning I did it with a thrd party tool. Now the post counter displays the number of messages which are present at the board.

Hi Volker,

Does this mean the counter counted posts wrong in the tournament
forum before?
BTW I checked a few number of posts against the number of posts
found by the 'search' and it seems the number is still a bit too high,
but much closer to reality now.

E.g. If I search for my posts, I get 393 hits, the counter still says 410.
If I search for yours, I find only 526 matches, but the counter
says 787 posts.
Well may be the search filters something out already, or shouldn't
the results really be equal?


Note:
I found out the search seems only to differ a bit for people who
post a lot in the tournament forum and very much for moderators
May be moderators are not counted sometimes as 'persons'
in the search?

Not wrong, different. Before it counted each post ever made. Since some months posts older than three months are deleted from the tournaments forum. The counter was not adjusted.

Now I use a tool to adjust the counter to the number of posts which are really present.

Don't forget the rants in the hidden admin forum .

It will always be a small difference because I don't run the tool every day but the pruning runs automatically. I don't think the post counter is so important. If I could force phpBB what to do the "Top Ten Posters" selection from the memberlist would be deleted at once.
