using winboard

Postby mike schoonover » 09 Sep 2006, 15:53

hi all,
i have been using winboard since 1998.
i'll admit it took me a while to figure out how to get engines loaded
correctly.
since then i have enjoyed winboard and many of the
free and commercial engines you all have toiled so hard
to make.
i've noticed as i get on in life,(i'm 51 now)that following
games in winboard,(or any gui for that matter)gets quite
tedious.
a couple of weeks ago i noticed the monochrome check box
in winboard.i checked it on and used it observing some engine
v engine games.
my first thought was the basic black and white was quite
unapealling,very stark.
after a short time though i seemed to be getting a better
picture of the board and piece placement.
i could grasp the positions quicker.
the games became easier to follow.

i presume that as one ages the thought processes work better
when the clutter is at a minimum.
i thought i'd pass this along in hopes perhaps it could be helpful
to all winboard users.

then again i could be just getting seniel regards,
mike
by the time i get there,i'll be there
