Winboard support added.

Playing as black (engine vs engine) in Winboard gui broken.
No problems in Arena gui though. (Maybe some kind soul can fix
it?)

Thus, I have tried SCP 1.0a under Arena and the engine stops playing after few moves.

Is there something special that I missed in the commandline parameter ?

If not, could you check that in order to solve this problem ?

Hi Jim !

Thanks to your great work. I love old engines and it's nice to be able to compare them with actual programms on "equal" terms, same computers that is.

Maybe I am just dreaming, but last year, in the programming forum, Andrew Fan talked about the source of Sargon. I don't know if it is possible to port it to winboard, but it would be great.

I learned to play chess against Sargon III quite a while ago. My body hardware hasn't improved, but the Babylonian king could benefit.

I just had a look at the Sargon source code - It scared me to death

I'm afraid pure assembler is beyond my feeble talents.

Pity. I'd love to convert it. Maybe in about ten years when I've learnt enough.

Since you are an expert in ressurecting vintage engines, it would be nice to add on your future projects Ken Thompson's T.Belle chess program. You'll not be scared of the codes since they are written in C. I'm working on it at the moment but it seems I need more time studying Programming than tinkering with the codes. I'll just leave it to the experts till I reach the level of understanding of a real programmer.

I'm glad you found this link too. I already got the Tony Marsland files from his repositories a few months ago (v6,v68,v7 of T.Belle). If you remember, because of you I got interest and motivation in this field of chess engine and source file collections (way off my carrer). I think my source files already exceed the Winboard and UCI sites due to this addiction. Send me a PM in any case you need files which I already have in my directories.

Maybe after a few months or even years of programming studies, I could resurrect or build one myself. Good luck and I wish you resurrect this fine program.
