How to create an opening book for mscp

Postby Jim Ablett » 13 Nov 2004, 10:00

A few poeople have asked me how to create an opening book.
Here's how >

You have convert the pgn before mscp can read it. Download Bookbuilder 3.6b here >
http://superchess.com/

1. Create new file in bookbuilder.
2. Import pgn file
3. Compact base
4. Create Crafty pgn.
5. Rename saved <filename>.pbs.pgn > opening.bk
5. Edit opening.bk with word processor - best/fastest OpenOffice.
6. Use find/replace and remove all '!!' and all comments until the file is clean. Save as plain text file - no word wrap.
7. That's it - you can now create an opening book for mscp from any pgn you like.
8. Best place for great collection of pgns is here >

Have fun!

Jim.
