What happened to the FAQ?

Does someone accessed the FAQ recently? I emailed Aaron but got
no reply. I hope he is not the next who simply disappears.

I'm considering a major change of the structure of the forum.

Afraid so. The website is closed, I no longer have any interest in maintaining it. Over the years it has gotten too dense and difficult for one person to get keep it up to date.

I have given permission to Kirill Kryukov to use the EGTB FAQ, which he intends to convert to a wiki form.

The offer to use any whole or part of the FAQ also extends to anyone here who is interested of course.

I hope Kirill will setup something and also I will possibly create something as a "Howto" subforum. Sometimes people ask me for things which has been online have been taken offline for some reason.

Until the projects are finished we still have the Internet Archive fortunately. The best idea is possibly to transfer as much information as possibly to the Wikipedia itself.

Volker

I was going to ask about the Faq a week ago, but I chose not to. I was looking for his list of privat engines, good that I can access it from the link Volker posted.

Hi Aaron,

I too am saddened that you have lost interest. I would like to resurrect the entire FAQ into a wiki and make it publically available. Please send me your zipped html files and I will do my best to make it more current.

send to: _ron_at_horizonchess_dot_com_
(remove '_' chars, insert the dot)

Best regards,
Ron

Hi Aaron,

Sad that it has come to an end, but thanks for building a fantastic FAQ over the years.

Hi Aaron,

WB FAQ is really a great site, many thanks for your years of work into it.

One really can learn a lot about computer chess reading it. :D

You've managed a wonderful mix of technical informations and explanations for non-programmers.

Best wishes.
