Problem with Xpdnt

It seems the new version from early January doesn't read
correctly the book 'obook.txt'?
So far Xpdnt always played only one move from book and then
started thinking despite I see much more moves for that line
in the book file? Any solutions?

BTW meanwhile I also tried a Thinkerbook with it, but here Xpdnt
belongs to a minority of programs which for whatever reasons
always play its first move after book end immediately.
Most of the time such behaviour was related to an 'unknown command'
from WB, rejected by the engine(this could be cured then by oppressing
the specific command with inbetween), but in Xpdnts case all commands
are accepted.

Hello Günther:
In my PC with Windows XP, Xpdnt 080103 reads OK the obook.txt (5,2Mb) of the 18.08.2006.
I do know if this information help you.

Pablo Urzua

Thanks Pablo,

This helped me to sort out the problem with the newer and smaller
books! For unknown reason the newer books contain spaces between
the moves when it seems to expect _no_ spaces between them.
I removed all spaces in the new book and now Xpdnt reads the
book as it should.
(BTW the old much bigger book contains a lot of very bad lines,
thus I suggest to use also the new small one with spaces removed.
Any good editor would do a global search and replace in less than
a second.)

Guenther
