About Blikskottel ...
In Dutch, Blik means 'Can'
I think Africaans is derived from Dutch.

So maybe

Blik Skottel

is something like "Can Play"

Just a wild guess.

Btw, another cool group would be "Tolkien's world", with actually at least 3 engines: Gothmog, Glaurung and Gandalf. And I still hope that some new engines will belong to this group in the future.

Hi Ralf

Elf would also belong to "Tolkien's world" group :)

Hi Olivier,

I'm not sure about this. Doubtless the name Elf is derivated from the myths around elves, orcs and trolls, but according to the homepage the name is based on a sad story of Amira El-Hanfy.

Anyway I like this sort of engine names :)

I just did some searching and came across a Dutch/Afrikaans list of words.
Seems Blikskottel means something like 'Rascal'

Classified with my limited knowledge so it will contain errors. Some engine has no version because I'm too lazy to type them in.

Or a name, not uncommonly used to denote a mischevious boy:

Maestra: Muy bien, Pepito.

Hola Dan,

Why do they say that some women are witches ... because they cause things to rise without touching them.

He visto unos de tus mensajes y tu ingl?s no est? nada mal.

I propose you a variant of this thread :
I have been struck by the fact that some egines make "natural couples"
here are some examples :
Gandalf with Glaurung ( he fights against this Dragon in "The Lord of Rings")
BigLion with ChessTiger
Lambchop with Smallpotatoes ( a complete dish! )
Surely there are many others!

Hola Pedro:

Dan, ?dices que has le?do alg?n mensaje m?o y mi ingl?s no est? nada mal?

Olivier, ?ganar? Danasah 1.3.1 a Toga II 0.93 esta tarde? Me parece que no tendr? oportunidad :D

Un saludo,
Best wishes,

Yes, I am thinking about the same thing but my own web site is not up 24hrs a day so I have to think about it a bit more.

I may even create an SQL database for it - when I'm in the mood and remember how to do ASP or PHP.

Meanwhile here is the updated list:
