Question about Comet Versions

Postby Kesiwang » 30 Apr 2005, 19:06

Comet is a veteran among Winboard engines. We can see that Comet B68 have been participating in WBEC and RWBC for a quite long time. At the same time the newest winboard version we can download in Leo's WebSite is Comet B62-3. Only can we find Comet B68 in ChessBase format. I am quite confused. Why there is not a Comet B68 (wb) downloadable? Does anyone know the reason :?:

Hello Kesiwang,

There used to be Comet b68-wb available from Uli Turke's
personal page, but no Comet files are there anymore.
I have it. I've put it here so you can download it. A large opening
book is included (14.4mb). Total compressed download size of .rar archive 2.9mb.

The link will last for 100 downloads, or seven days, wherever
comes sooner.

Jim.

Hello, Jim!
Thank you for your nice offer. BTW, I also got LordKing from your links. It seems to be a magical site

Clicking on that link spawns window after window of advertisements. The varmints keep popping up faster than I can close them. "Free" isn't worth it. I'll stick to B60.

Hi Dan-The-K,

Sorry about the pop-ups, I didn't realize it was doing this as
I use the 'MYIE2' browser which kills pop-up automatically so I never
see them. I'll put future downloads somewhere else in future. If you still want Comet please just email me and I'll send it to you.

Regards,
Jim.

Hi Jim,

I have made it available from WBEC now (with permission of Uli).

Best wishes,

Hello Leo,

That's great. I was going to ask you about hosting it,
and maybe 'Lord King' as well (homepage gone). It seems
very popular judging by all the enquiries I've had for it.

regards,
Jim.

As long I have no permission from the author to host LordKing its impossible to do.
Besides, he had told me there will be an new LordKing version "soon" but thats more as one year ago :-))

Best wishes,
Leo.
