I've read (or at least tried to read) carefully the comments above and those in the LG Revival thread and I get mixed signals. I understand the logic that an Arena bug report might get better attention in the Arena forum. However, most bug reports aren't bugs but simply problems. And the members of this forum have proven themselves to be highly capable of helping with problems - of all sorts. So I disagree; this is an excellent place to seek help with Arena. But if Arena posts are not welcome due to other circumstances, I, and I think other members, can respect that. We just need some clear direction.

Hello Dan,
Please tell me how I can assist in this process of making it clearer than I have already. I agree that there are some formidable minds here (excluding myself of course). I agree that solutions crop up here at a higher rate than normal.
Arena posts are not a problem.
Arena bug reports are. A post about a competition held in the Arena gui is not a problem. A post describing Winboard as an archaic piece of crap is. A post pointing out the merits of UCI as compared to the WB protocol is not a problem. A post pointing out that the WB protocol is the realm of dinos is.
A post lauding the merits of the Fritz gui will not receive a welcome reception from me. Ditto for a post that consists of forty chessbase engines and a token winboard engine thrown in. It is a matter of feeling and cannot be rigidly defined.
When in Disneyland, do not mess with the mouse. Seems simple enough.....
Perhaps what is required is a gui complaints section where all the Arena, Fritz, Chesspartner etc. problems can be posted and discussed .....
Sigh.
As for the other circumstances, well.........
Later.
