Pepito 1.40 MMX LCT2 test

An amazing 2605 was achieved on a 933 MHz PIII machine. The engine was taken from the Corbit FTP (BTW, it disappeared. Why?).
What a pity it does not run on my Celeron! It exits as soon as it leaves book.
Cheers,
Gábor

Hi Engin,
Try this one:
ftp://cap.connx.com/pub/chess-engines/n ... itoMMX.exe
But note that Dann told that this is just an experimental version
and not yet an official new release and it is by no way sure that
it will run on your PC. Btw this is already named Pepito 1.42.
Best,
Günther

It seems that Dann has removed this file as it was not really official
so we have to wait for the official release...

I guess they simply decided to improve the engines stability since
it did not work well on every CPU. It should just be a question of
time until a more stable official release will come out.
It's funny seeing people blaming programmers for NOT (ab)using
them as beta testers. Seems like people got so much accustomed
to Microsofts release policy that they even start blaming those
programmers who prefer to hold back and work over instable
versions instead of releasing them immediately, no matter what
crashes they may cause... ;)

Carlos found a serious bug in it. It had to do with being a pawn down in certain situations. It worked for one color, but did the opposite of what it should for the other.
As soon as the tournament is over and Thomas comes back from Germany there will be a release of the new Pepito.
It will be worth the wait. As they say, "Absense makes the heart grow fonder."

Very soon. Carlos does not want me to build it up, but I am very, very impressed with it.
I also have some more ideas for speedups that I have not implemented yet. So it may do even better.

It comes with the source code after all.
Anyone who speaks Spanish as their native language will very much enjoy the code that Carlos wrote.
It is amazing how much power he has packed into such a little package. (Sorry, Carlos -- I'm doing it again).
