Queen 3.06

Postby Leen Ammeraal » 23 Jul 2005, 07:49

Queen 3.06 is available from my homepage
http://home.planet.nl/~ammeraal/.
When playing under WinBoard it resigns when appropriate,
which the previous version did not do, as Guenther Simon pointed
out to me. This new version should also be slightly stronger than
the previous one.

Hi Leen,

3.06 IS stronger. In my observations, other recent updates did not improve the level of play against other engines. But this update plays much stronger.

And it still has the best interface for user v engine games.

My only criticism is the unnecessary Queen icon on the taskbar when the engine is being used. Thanks.

Hi Norm,
This is good news! Thank you for using Queen and for your message.
As for this Queen icon at the taskbar, I did not do this on purpose,
and I don't know how to get rid of it. As soon as I know, I will
remove it.
Best wishes,
Leen

One other thing if I may. I notice Queen uses the same constant time per move in incremental time games. I have not checked other types of time control. Perhaps a flexible time management scheme could help. Anyway, thanks.
