CEGT news and hardware updates

Postby Heinz van Kempen » 06 Sep 2005, 17:10

Hi all :) ,

Tournaments and matches in progress;

besides Fantasy Party and New Versions 4 (run by Rainer, Uschi, Ralf and me) currently a lot of engine matches are in progress:

Charles: SlowChess Blitz WV2 (still surprinsingly strong) and Toga II 1,0

Michael: Toga II 1.0

Spike 1.0a Mainz (run by me and started yesterday)

Hardware updated:

Charles now uses an Athlon 3200+ additionally to his Athlon64 3400+

Michael and I both got an Athlon64x2 4200+ with 2GB RAM each. This dual cores are correspondent to two Athlon64 3500+ on one machine.

It is possible to run two tournaments on one computer with two different GUI?s reserving one core to each GUI without conflicts when using only 4 men.

We are not sure if to start a ponder on league or something like this or use Deep versions. Suggestions as always are welcome.

Best Regards
Heinz

Hi Alessandro :) ,

not really a monster, but fine price-performance ratio. Those machines will be standard in a few months I think, at least for engine freaks.

The faster AMD64x2 are still too expensive for the speed increase you get.
