Winboard + UCI2WB + Fruit

Let's not forget this is a Winboard forum.
Volker explained to me a known bug in UCI2WB, but it should only show up in multiple time controls (xx moves in yy mins). So sudden death possibly with increments should work fine (not sure if UCI2WB handles increments).
Also, maybe use other similar adapters instead?
Does anybody have problems running Fruit under Winboard (indirectly, I mean).
Fabien.

Hi Fabien, there were other problems too with the old UCI2WB
adapter, but I forgot most of them, as it is long ago I used it.
AFAIK there was a bug in long drawish endgames when the UCI
prog for whatever reason lost on time in a dead drawn position.
May be it had sth to do with draw offers or similar...
I would welcome an improved UCI2WB to invite UCI only programs
to my Winboard competitions.
Regards,
Günther

Yes, I think several people make it quite clear that I can't rely on existing Windows software.
I use my own software on Linux, so at least if there is a problem I can only blame myself.
Unfortunately porting the software to Windows is not easy matter (for instance Fruit could not play a single move two days ago whereas it had played hundreds of games on Linux). But, I am confident Dann Corbitt will take care of that :)
If all goes well after Fruit 1.0 is released I will work on my "uci2wb" adapter and hopefully make UCI engines work perfectly under Winboard.
But let's not hope too much and see what happens ...
Fabien.

Hello Fabien,
I'm not using Pfister's UCI2WB adapter anymore because of the following:
When two UCI engines play each other and they run into repetition they start repeating moves million times.
Your engine will be included into my next New Long Infinite Loop. Unfortunately it will be not earlier than in a month.

And the adapter crashed frequently after end of game.
I don't remember whether this happened only when game was draw.
Maybe I and Günther are talking about same bug.

Yes Igor, thanks for remembering me :) That was one of the bugs
I also had experienced, but forgot meanwhile.
As I am still writing this post, I remember another bug too,
sometimes the UCI program suddenly started to move for the
other side and all went out of sync!
Best regards,
Günther

I had trouble using SOS 3/4 with uci2wb. SOS would not leave memory after being checkmated. Some people thought this to be an SOS problem, but I don't know where the fault lies.
