language of the nomenclature of piezaa of chess

Postby manelfl » 03 Nov 2004, 15:38

Hello all. This is my first message. My name is Manel and I am from Spain.
Sorry for my english.

I am studying oppenings and I visit web pages in spanish language. In this pages the language of the nomenclatura of piezaa of chess is:
knight C (Caballo)
bishop A (Alfil)
Rook T (Torre)
queen D (Dama)
king R (Rey)

Most games are in pgn format but I can not open these games with winboard.

How can I change the winboard language?

Thank you in advance!

You can transform that notation to the English SAN with any editor. Change all "C" to "N", "A" to "B", "T" to "R", "D" to "Q" and "R" to "K".

Problem is, that games played by "Pomar, Arturo" would be converted to games played by "Pombr, Brruko" :?

Hi Volker,

another problem of your proposal is that all rooks would become Kings ("T" => "R" => "K"). Perhaps a different order would help: first "R" to "K" and then "T" to "R".

Cheers,
Sven

Hello,

You cannot change the Winboard Language, but you can use Arena instead. It probably has spanish language packs:
http://www.playwitharena.com

This program can convert the Language of PGN files:

Bookmark this website, it has links to Many chess related software.
