Strange Games in Walter Eigenmann's CC database

Postby Volker Pittlik » 04 Nov 2004, 15:48

Some of you might have noticed Walter Eingenmann has comiled a big computer chess database (slow time control only). It is available at http://www.chess-database.com/Downloads/downloads.html in compressed PGN and at http://www.harald-faber.de/Partien/eigenmann/megacomp2004.zip in Chessbase format.

You'll find 2500+ 60 minutes games played by me inside. The games should have been played on a Celeron 2.53 MHz. Nice. I really like the database and appreciate Walter's effort.

However, I can't remember I ever had such a machine. Also I don't remember to be patient enough to play so many games at that time control.

Regards

That page seems to be more confusing as I presume. As it is clearly written in the PGN time control was:
[TimeControl "60+2"]

That means 60 seconds per game + 2 seconds per move. 2*520MHz does not mean 2.52 MHz but two CPUs each running at 520 MHz. I strongly recommend to remove that games from the database. That games had their purpose but they don't fit into your fine database with games at slow time control.

Yep, you're right, Volker.

My brain was faster than my eyes: I never would have been able to imagine
a ponder experiment at 1min+/game...

Was my mistake - many thanks for your message!

Of course we will remove your games.
