nanoSzachy 3.3

Postby Piotr Cichy » 31 May 2008, 19:41

Hello!

New version of nanoSzachy is available on my site:

http://www.kalisz.mm.pl/~pic/nanochess/

Changes:
- added tablebases for KQK, KRK and KPK endings.

There are no other changes, hence the playing strength should be identical to version 3.2.

I thought one of the purposies of nanoSzachy was to have a small executable size. So why do you include tablebases of endgames that it no doubt could win blind-foldedly (although perhaps not in the theoretically fastest way)?

Adding tablebases did not cause the grow of executable size, total program size is still below 32 KB!

NanoSzachy 3.2 and earlier versions had special routine used when one side had only king. It was designed specially for correct handling of KPK and similiar endings without deep search. Adding tablebases allowed to remove this routine.

Thanks Piotr. Just finished game with Dragon 46wb. nano played a
real wild game and beat Dragon. Now got some fast games in progress.

Best to you,

Gerold.

P.S. Hope you don't mind using H.S. 12 move book for your engine.
