This engine does not appear on any lists.

HeavyChess

I think it is written by Federico Andrés Corigliano, author of Chispa
The download has C++ source code with comments in Spanish
Heavychess 013 release date: April 22, 2007

Older versions are available for download.

It is indeed a new (old) engine. I noticed that he noticed both directories (chispa and Heavychess) on the same day. So may be heavychess is sort of a lobotomized version for beginners. I wish my computer was working properly, then I would have threw this new beast same opponents Chispa played against, and see how it fairs against them..
What more can I say?

It's an interesting engine.

It searches *really* fast, but has no concept of king shelter and has real trouble with horizon problems (I guess it may lack a qsearch or something).

It has no opening book. It appears to have threading code, so it may be SMP, but I have not investigated that far yet.

Hello Dann,
I tried HeavyChess 0.13 at Winboard but did not make any move. My OS is Windows XP.
Please your comments.

Hola Pablo

It is because HeavyChess is an UCI engine :) Try it with polyglot, works fine here.
