Search for old engines – the second (and the last) part

Postby Adam Antonczyk » 21 Oct 2008, 22:39

I intensively look for old, once free and today unavailable engines. I have been supported by chess fanatics like me, but still only several engines items could make me entirely happy (if possible together with books):

Chezzz 0.88
Delfi – any version before 3.5
Amyan 1.46 or 1.49
Bestia 0.80 or 0.84
Bestia 0.88 or 0.89
Pepito 1.42
BigLion 1.0c
Asterisk 0.21or 0.30

I should be very much obliged to all those who could send them to me. Since it will fill up my collection in 100 per cent, I will not hound the Internet society but start my tests.

Thank you in advance for your understanding.

A few hours ago I sent (without posting a message to the forum, sorry if I caused anyone any wasted effort):

Asterisk 0.3
Bestia 0.88
Chezzz 0.88
Delfi 3.2
Pepito 1.42

It didn't seem to bounce back for me.

Hello !

It looks from what I see posted that Amyan 1.46 is still missing. I dont' have it, but I can send 1.50 or 1.42 if you are interested.

I don't think you gave this forum any trouble.

I'm sure many would be pleased if you were to post the results of your tournaments with old engines here.

Best wishes.

I have source code for the following Amyan versions:
printf("Amyan... version 1.499, by Antonio Dieguez.\n");
printf("Amyan version 1.422\n");
printf("Amyan version 1.421\n");
printf("Amyan... version 1.46\n");

I did a build of 1.46 (32 and 64 bit compiles) and put the binaries here:
http://cap.connx.com/chess-engines/new- ... yan146.zip

I did have to make one change to get the source code to compile...
I changed:

#include <iostream.h>

to:

#include <iostream>
using namespace std;

Can somebody send me the older versions of Amyan starting from 1.5... ?
It's not available in engine website archives anymore.

email: nswami15 at yahoo dot com.

I do remember one of the version in 1.5x series that play blitz spectacularly well, sad the last version of Amyan doesn't seem to be suited to blitz.

Btw to Dann Corbit: I do remember you writing elsewhere that one of the Amyan version was the good blitzer, can you tell me which one that was?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hello !

I don't remember reading about a version that was much stronger than the others in blitz, I can't help there, sorry.

I could send you some older versions of Amyan, I have many, but could you be more specific ? 1.50 was released in 2001 and I can't imagine how many there were until 1.957 in 2005 ! :?

Best wishes.
