There is a 5.4A in the stockings.

Enjoy!

Thanks Kerwin and Lance.
Is Thinker 5.4a Inert still supposed to be best for engine v engine testing?

Cheers, Graham.

Kerwin - a couple of people told me they were having trouble downloading for the Thinker site, so I've provided an alternative download link in CCRL public.
I'll remove this if either yourself or Lance wishes me too.

Cheers, Graham.

Actually, both the 'Passive' and 'Inert' versions are designed to play against other engines. My tests show that their performance is roughly 'equal', but the style is different.

Merry Christmas!

Hi Graham,

I was hoping you would not do this. Sometimes, I might have to change the code without having to change the version number (e.g., if I make a very, very minor fix, like a spelling error).

There is already another download location, courtesy of Thomas Mayer. This has always been the place for all of the Chess Thinker files.
http://www.winboardengines.de/thinker/Thinker54A.zip

I will update Chess Thinker download site, to make it obvious that they can get the file from Thomas' site.

Regards...
Kerwin
