WinBoard Gold Pack

Postby H.G.Muller » 26 Dec 2008, 20:50

I have made a first attempt at putting together the WinBoard Gold Pack, which bundles WinBoard, Polyglot, PSWBTM, two Engines (one WB, one UCI), and many supporting data filse (opening book, Nunn and Silver positions). All pre-installed and ready to run.

I uploaded this tentative WinBoard Gold Pack to my website, ready for download, in the hope that some of you can test it out. One thing that is not finished yet is the documentation (included as web pages). I would like to hear sugestions on what other things can still be improved.

But please, only download it if you really want to intesively test it on very short term, and not just to make sure that you have it sitting on your disk. Because it will certainly be upgraded over the next few days, and then you would have to reload it again (and again) to have a complete and correct version, and that would quickly exceed my allowed bandwidth.

The Gold Pak is designed from unpacking in the folder where you normally have all your engine folders.

Thanks Santa!

I'll check out your chess goodies! I haven't received an online gift yet :D!

I already made my own package as Winboard is configurable to any setup you want. I couldn't ask for more.

I uploaded a new version of the Gold Pack, with a slightly simplified configuration: it proved to simplify things if all Polyglot books were placed together with Polyglot, Polyglot GUI and all polyglot .ini files in the same folder.

I also worked on completing the accompanying tutorial.
