A marvelous result. Perhaps we will see a new world record for youngest GM in the next 3-4 years.

He played the regional championships this weekend. ( or rather "province", we have 12 of them)

He finished 4th, but a playoff had to decide who got the last ticket to the dutch championships. The 3rd playoff ( 5 min game) was decisive , he didn't qualify.

Nice detail: They had to bend the rules a bit. Keeping a gamesheet was demanded, but my son can't write :)

A wonderful result for someone barely over half of the age limit.
He must have some great innate ability to do so well when so young.
I think I'm jealous.

I know what you mean. It's great to see these kids play when they still can win it all.

At our club whe are fortunate enough to have 2 kids who, ( if they continue this way) can become dutch champion, and better.
Although that's hard to predict, and very unlikely, they still could.
(Most kids, at some age, you think: OK you'll never be a worldchampion and a few years later: You'll never be dutch champion etc)

I had the luck to be teaching them both for 2 years. So rather than being jalous because they will be going to places I never managed, I'm a bit proud for contributing a little.

But that pride is much smaller than the father-pride :)
