Hello ChessKnight,

I am somewhat bemused by your post.

There is a sticky whereby the latest Winboard gui can be downloaded.

Why are you linking to a post made elsewhere and reverse linking to this forum?

I cannot understand it.

Then, the version of the engine you provided is not a demo. It is a fully functional engine.

Finally, there is a sticky here whereby one can download a Winboard package with pre-set engines and a fantastic WBTM and other goodies for instant gratification.

I am a WInboard fanatic and there should be more Winboard than less but your post should add rather than needlessly duplicate what is already available.

Later.

I guess, Winboard was originally Tim's, Polyglot was Fabien and Rybka was Vas, isn't it?
Did anyone of these three guys ever minded any other download link?
And, I guess, I did not violated any GNU-GPL terms as well. Or did not included any commercial version as well.

I made a Rybka Forum, CCRL forum and WinBoard forum here for two reason...
1) I include Rybka Demo available from from rybka site and winboard.
2) To keep all concerned informed that I did not deed anything wrong.

Roger Brown and Matthias Gemuh
Then, the version of the engine you provided is not a demo. It is a fully functional engine.

Did you guys really check the contents of my .zip file before replying to me?

For your information I have also include the links for the straight downloads. Download the Rybka Demo from Rybka site and check MD5 sum for both one from Rybka site and one from my .zip file.

Here is information for your ready reference:

MD5 SUM for Rybka v2.2n2.mp.w32.exe downloaded from rybka website:
MD5 sum : 7867981945665a42b7891885551163c4

MD5 SUM for Rybka v2.2n2.mp.w32.exe included in my .zip file:
MD5 sum : 7867981945665a42b7891885551163c4

Both matches 100%.

Any question about MD5, probably I am not in a position to answer coz I am not the programmer or authro of MD5 checksum.

Hope, all these would be enough to justify myself.
In case of more questions or doubts, please feel free to post.

Just hang around in the software scene and you shall eventually learn what a demo is.

Matthias Gemuh:

Let me ask you something very straight coz MD5 sum check seems to beyond your understandings.

What's your problem here?

Could you please explain more? coz I am like new born newbie in terms of Software and You seems like Bill Gates or Allen Paul.

Fully functional ? YES.
Demo ? NO ! NO ! NO !

Did I provided direct link to rybka chess for verification???.
So, It would be better if you ask Vas directly why it is not demo and fully functional? :D
It is up to Vas who can keep fully functional as a demo version downloads for free.

Better you talk something meaning full next time.

Hello ChessKnight,

No, no, no, ChessKnight, MD5 sum checks are beyond me. Matthias Gemuh is quite conversant with them.

Consider this your first and only warning.

Should you wish to be condescending and insulting, there are several places which I suppose will welcome you. This Forum is not one of them.

Please see my comments above.

You would be well advised to take your own advice.

Don't to think we are discussing and moderating something absolutely irrelevant.

I do not personally feel insulted when you and Matthias Gemuh started arguing about demo or full version without getting into details of the contents.

Consider this your first and only warning.

Definitely I am looking for some good forum where Super Moderator above Moderators are also under existance.
Hope, this might be enough to put end to this absolutely irrelevant discussions.

By the way thanks for the advice

ChessKnight banned

Postby Roger Brown » 06 Mar 2009, 08:04

Dear Members,

ChessKnight has been banned for a period of one week.

I believe that the poster may actually have something valid to add so I hope that during the period ChessKnight will reflect on his ways and adjust them accordingly.

It is with some reluctance that the action was taken but I considered it the best action in the circumstances.
