The x64 version runs on my Q9300 but crashes on my Dual Opteron.

Hi again Doctor :)

A new version has just been uploaded. Plisk supports both Winboard and UCI protocols, but the author recommends using UCI. Multithreading is disabled at the moment.

Unfortunately it still crashes here after the book moves :( I would be interested to know if you notice the same behaviour.

Hi again Oliver,
Yep,just downloded the 9th version from 27.06.2009 :D
I've just tried to install it and it just doesn't fire up....gives an error message :(
I tried both winboard and uci with no success whatever....
Waiting for a bug fix regards,
Dr.D

P.S.My OS is Windows XP x64 Professional....

Hi all,

I think I have an idea why it fails to run on Intel QuadCore. I am using some intrinsics that translate to assembly that is not available on Intel QuadCore but it is available on later AMD CPUs (Phenom and Phenom2). Mostly popcnt I think is at fault here. So I went and updated the package on the website and I have incorporated there 3 builds of the engine: 32bit, 64bit and 64bit with AMD support. I also wrote down on the website the speed differences I get from running all 3 version under perft.

I would really appreciate feedback from people that run QuadCores or Opteron to confirm which version works and which does not.

Regards,
Vlad.

Hi Vlad, and welcome to the Winboard Forum :)

Plisk x64 runs fine on the Quad ! Seems Plisk is ready for OpenWar after all 8-)

The x64 compile still does not start at all on the Opteron (WinXP Pro 64), the x32 one works.
