Jori's WBTM

Postby Robert Pope » 02 Nov 2009, 04:01

I've been using Pradu's WBTM, but it doesn't seem to save the game results for me. I thought I'd give Jori's WBTM a try since that is what Leo uses, but I can't seem to find a good link. Does anyone have a link for this that isn't broken?

Thanks,
Rob

Hello Robert,

I am unclear what you mean here.

Pradu's WBTM can be setup to save the debug files for each game, the pgn and shows a real time crosstable.

What game results do you mean?

Later.

Ps. You might need to speak to Leo if you are determined to use Jori's WBTM as even though it was released as freeware I think he has the latest (and unreleased at the time) version of it.

Well maybe I am just not using Pradu's program correctly, but:

1. I can see real-time standings during a tournament, but only while it is running. So if my son accidentally closes PSWBTM after the tournament is done, when I load it back up, there is no tournament result for me to look at -- it's blank. I suppose there's probably something I could run the PGN through to get the result, but that's awkward.

2. PSWBTM just shows me a ranking of the competitors and their total score (e.g. 44/100). It would be nice to see a cross table like Leo has on his tournaments. Is that available somehow?

Thanks,
Rob

To generate crosstables, you could use scid or George Lyapkos tool (but his webpages are gone,it seems).
You could also try this one (as long as its there, its the old csvn site) http://old.csvn.nl/comgames/Pgn.zip).
edit: After the tour is ended, pswbtm's standings are gone indeed.Even if one manages to save the scores.pswbtm file, pswbtm does not reread it.

There are many tools that convert a PGN to a cross table. PSWBTM executas all commands in a file AFTERGAME.TXT after each game. So what I usually do is have my favorite PGN->CrossTable converter (e.g. LGTABLE.EXE) be called from AFTERGAME.TXT, so that it updates the cross-table file. I then open that file in a browser window, so that refreshing the view is enough to see the latest cross table.

If you want, you could also give a try to my tournament manager FSTM. It has a few handy features like tournament clone, automatically kill dead engines, assign cpu affinity, etc.....

Download it at: http://sites.google.com/site/clonfsp/fstm

A feedback is also wellcome.... :)

Thanks for the manager.

On Vista 64bits I get an error on startup. The same error I get when setting affinity to all (but not to one of the other values*).Windows lets me continue however and it seems to work fine.
Windows error message (Sorry part is in dutch,it says "exception because of overflow"):
************** Tekst van uitzondering **************
System.OverflowException: De rekenkundige bewerking heeft geresulteerd in een overloop.
bij FSTM.FSTM.comboCPUAffinity_SelectedIndexChanged(Object sender, EventArgs e)
bij System.Windows.Forms.ComboBox.OnSelectedIndexChanged(EventArgs e)
bij System.Windows.Forms.ComboBox.set_SelectedIndex(Int32 value)
bij FSTM.FSTM.FSTM_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e)
bij System.EventHandler.Invoke(Object sender, EventArgs e)
bij System.Windows.Forms.Form.OnLoad(EventArgs e)
bij System.Windows.Forms.Control.CreateControl(Boolean fIgnoreVisible)
bij System.Windows.Forms.Control.CreateControl()
bij System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmShowWindow(Message& m)

bij System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m)
bij System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)

One other thing, but that might be an oversight from me,I cannot find the winboard debug file of the running game.I would need that if i broadcast games with tommy's tlcs server.**

*edit: other values works fine till 64 and higher
**edit: Found it:because I am using pswbtm I thought winboard always creates a winboard.debug file.Putting -debug on winboard commandline does the thing.

For the error, it seems to be something I can not reproduce in my computer, as I only have 2 core in a 32bits vista. Give me a few clues: how many cores do you have?

For the debug file, first thing is you must have debug option on when you create the tournament. Then, when running, the debug file would be written as '\tournament_name\Debug\Game" + num_game + ".debug"" . As this is a variable name which depend on each game number, and if you want, I can modify FSTM to be always a static filename, and after game finish copy it as the path above. Please, let me know if you want it or enought with the current filename.

I would prefer a version with a static filename.
On the affinity issue,I was testing on intel 2 quad cpu (so 4 cores) Q8200 with Vista 64bits.

Hi,

I have uploaded a new version with those two features. For the static filename, the application generate now winboard.debug at main directory, and only when the game has ended, it is file copied to debug tournament directory with other name.

For the issue, I have made a minor change which someone in a forum told me and I hope it can run now,.... but as I don't have a 4 core machine I can not test it.

Let me know any feedback, and if you if you want another feature......

Thx.

Hello Fermin Serrano,

Well you know you should not make open ended invitations so.....

Could I ask for a winboard ini importer in your gui that can understand the uci switches so that when I import the winboard ini file it can use the UCI engines right away?

I am far too lazy to enter each of my engines by hand.

Later.

Thanks for the new version!
Unfortunatly the "affinity" bug is still there.
There is one more feature that would be nice. The ability to launch winboard with the engine in the engine manager window.PSWBTM has this feature,it allows me to check that the engine starts up,uses about the right amount of hash(with a look in the tasmanager),plays with or without a book, ponders etc. etc.

Hi,
I have upload a new beta with launch engine support from manager windows. Please, test it to see if it runs OK.
Unfortunatly for affinity bug I am blind as I can not reproduce it. In a support forum, one tested it on a 64bit 4 core machine and he had not any problem. Anyway I have rewrite the routine to see if it now run altought I have not enought hopes......

From now, I will stay until next week outside home, so if there is any new possible improvement I will do it at my return. Anyway will be able to read the forum meanwhile

I will prefer nobody claims at any site this is a new version, it will better to wait until everybody appobes the beta.

Regards,
FS

Yes,the default options for winboard were going to the engine.
As you feared, the affinity bug is still here.
Still,these are minor issues
