PSWBTM and PGN

Postby Roger Brown » 28 Dec 2009, 16:35

Hello all,

I am sure that this is a trivial problem but it is preventing from enjoying my software to the max so here it is:

When I feed a pgn file - to serve as start positions for an engine tournament - to PSWBTM it flashes a position that has nothing to do with the opening position in the pgn file. In fact the position is an illegal one for normal chess as there are two black kings and no white one. Then the TM terminates the tournament. Well, actually it gives me that option which I then take in frustration.

Winboard loads the pgn file without protest but I cannot (or will not learn how to) run a tournament without PSWBTM.

ChessGUI has no problem with running the tournament using the pgn file either.

Can anyone suggest a fix for my problem?

No, I am not going to use ChessGUI. I like it (I do!) but I have all of my stuff set up in Winboard/PSWBTM already. Laziness shall be my downfall.

:-)

Later.

Ps. Here is something strange. I have a standalone TM folder at C:\Program Files\WBTM_PS. Everything works flawlessly there! It is only in this folder C:\Program Files\Winboard\PSWBTM that things are wierd. Any ideas? Anyone experiencing this or is this yet another case of private misfortune?

Later again.

Edited: #@$%^%&^@&* - the thing is working now! I swear it was not working a minute ago. I hate these "oh you make me look like an idiot moments". I have too many of them.

Thanks for looking everyone who did.....

It looks like your problem doesn't happen anymore. Please post again if you can consistently reproduce the problem.
