Avichess 0.6 or 0.7 won't run under Arena?

Postby JBoyd333 » 29 Dec 2009, 22:41

Hi, has anyone gotten Avichess to run under Arena? It just crashes for me?

If so, what settings, and which .exe file?

The AviChess engine is not new. It was announced back on December 12
http://computer-chess.org/forum/index.php?id=574
It is true the engine was updated today.

Today's new engine is actually Jabba 1.0 by Richard Allbert (Lime)
You can find the links at the Chess Engine List
http://computer-chess.org/doku.php?id=c ... ngine_list
along with links to the new (improved!) Stockfish releases with Dann Corbit's changes

Hi John,
I think the problem is that AviChess is only compatible with conventional
clock modes at the moment. This is one of my (many) todo tasks to make it
compatible with all clock modes.
I reproduced your problem with Arena default clock mode, Tournament in 5
minutes, but with "40 moves in N minutes" modes it worked fine.
Best regards,
Michel

Hi Olivier,

You get the credit for discovering this engine. I was *not* trying to take credit, I was referring to the title of this thread which mentioned that AviChess was a *new* engine, but it is not. The only reason I put up the link to my own forum is because that is the easiest one for me to search.

Hi Ron,

Thanks for the update on the CCW.

Richard

Hi Richard,

You deserve your own thread announcing your new engine, Jabba. Good luck with your new codebase!

To Ron : no problem at all :) Actually I got the information about AviChess release from its author.

To Richard : Ron is right, starting your own thread here was a reasonable option, since some people stopped reading CCC.
