Does Ruffian 2.* always learn or is there an option in the ruffian.cfg to switch it off?

Hi Volker,

I found nothing about this. Have you already tried to write protect the book file?

Thanks Guenther! That is the workaround I found too. Ruffian changes its log file then. It says "Learning disabled" or similar after changing the book to read-only.

However in the light of the recent development (which is disgusting from my point of view) I'm going to constrict my selection of test engines.
Besides the features they should offer they should

- be under active development (and Ruffian is fine but dead)
- be open-source
- the source must be written by a human (not generated) and understandable
- the author should be open for feedback and communication
- the program should be free of charge also in the future. Of course I'm willing to contribute to a commercial project if I get paid.

For an ongoing test project I use Arasan, Sloppy, Crafty, Protector and Stockfish only.

Greetings

Volker
