QuarkLeoN5 Opening Book Finally Downloads (Joy)

Postby Charles Browne » 26 Jan 2011, 11:51

As the link for the QuarkLeoN5 opening book on the wbec-ridderkerl.nl Quark engine details page no longer works, I would try to download the book from the archive.org site but always got a data retrival error message on those attempts (eight months worth of trying).

The archive site is promoting a beta version of an updated wayback machine and trying that beta version of the site the opening book downloaded.

Happiness is a successfully downloaded opening book.

Hi Charles,

Thanks, it is also available from the "wbec-ridderkerl.nl Quark engine details page " again, but this time direct from the WBEC site! (was linked to the Quark site until now)

Best wishes,
Leo

Nah, you have so much chess program knowledge and the book being I suppose some six or more years old, you only probably didn't recall it.

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1909 - old thread

In the first post in the above thread the Quark author tells of a Quark book compiling bug that according to the author existed since Quark 1.76. So I'm guessing that the QuarkLeoN5 book was not affected by this compiling bug(?) since the beta version of 1.76 that I have has a file modified date of "June 08, 2002" and the QuarkLeoN5 opening book file has a file modified date of "February 25, 2002".

As far as I know this book is ok, I always used it for the tournaments and Thomas also as far I remember.

Best wishes,
Leo.
