winboard engine package

Postby paulo » 06 Sep 2011, 01:43

I don't know if anyone can help with this. Some time ago someone put together a winboard package. I think it included the engines Anmon, Aristarch and Delfi. I lost my copy of this package in a home fire. I'd appreciate it if someone could post a link to this or post the package itself. Thanks.

That sounds more like an Arena package than a Winboard one. For Winboard, just download the latest Winboard from this site and then download the engines that you want. You can use my Chess Engine List to find the engine sites:

Thanks, but it is this that I was referring to. The link is now dead though.

"Still Stuck?

If you read all the way down here and still have problems, you can download the following Winboard package at http://www.cacsi.com/chess/Winboard_Package_Aug_4th.exe from Jason Kent. Extract the whole package and a couple of engines Ruffian,Delfi, Crafty etc are included in there. More importantly, Jason as modified the winboard.ini file and the package is ready to use immediately."

I don't know how old this package is, but if it is from the time of WinBoard 4.2.7 it is unlikely to work well with modern WinBoards when it modifies the winboard.ini file.

I happened to have saved a copy of it to disc. You can download it from the below page. I guess Jason Kent will not mind it being shared.

For those that don't know, the exe file is a self-extracting archive file and the copy I uploaded is the exact file that I downloaded from the below link.
