AquariumBookAdapter 2.5 With ???

Postby Waldemar » 14 Oct 2011, 13:53

Hi guys! I would like a help here. Since I use adapter to run my ctg books, I wish to know what version of winboard and polyglot are stable and sweet to use with adapter.

If someone here knows and tested please advice me. Cuz the one I am using is not following the correct clock in my table game.

Ex: If I play 1/0 games, even if my clock is 0:08, the engine doesnt go faster or sometimes it waits like 15 seconds to make a move. All help/advice will be appreciated !!!

No problemo....For reasons I do not recall, the good old WinBoard_X and polyglot 1.38b worked better for me for this situation, but more than likely the problem was on my end and not in the newest and more advance polyglot and WinBoard.

Edit: Please observe that this particular post has been edited by me, because the previous one was wrong.

Regards,

Hello Mate, I have tried and I have found the problem, it is the engine Houdini 2.0b, not winboard and not polyglot. Houdini 1.5b works fine but 2.0b grrrr. Thx for help and reply.

I am very surprised to hear that because the new versions fixed may bugs that were present in Winboard_x. That some of the development versions I am constantly working on is logical, but we consider the stable version (currently 4.5.3) as far more reliable than Winboard_x. Note that Winboard_x also supports many variants, and that I am not aware of any of the added variants to ever have caused any problem, or in fact have any efect at all unless you actually select them from the menu.

There do not exist any Polyglots that support variants, and as a mere adapter they are completely oblivious of tournaments. And Polyglot 1.4.38b is in fact a quite modern Polyglot, which supports all extensions of WinBoard protocol. I think almost all changes after that are mere bug-fixes, meaning the only 'advantage' of 38b over the newer ones is that it is more buggy...

Is there anything you find problematic in particular, with 4.5.2?

Mr. Muller,

I own you an apology because I choose the wrong words.

I know XsupremeX for many years and I know exactly what he was trying to accomplish, and for that I recommended an older version.

The "problematic" part of WinBoard is not WinBoard itself, it is me, that have not taken the time to learn it and understand it. As you can see in other of my posts, I have learn now how to compile it so I can always try the latest and greatest revisions.

Please accept my apologies and disregard my comment, it was unfounded and totally out of place.

Aquarium Book Adapter

(New Version + New Options) 08-Nov-2011

http://www.chessok.com/download/Aquariu ... rSetup.exe

Image

This program can be used to 2 main things:

1. Able to use Aquarium book format in Fritz GUI.
2. Able to use ctg book in winboard without Fritz GUI.

For both you need to edit a file that comes with it called: tree_configurations.xml located in (AquariumBookAdapter folder >>> Data folder). I have edited mine and as you can see I set ABA to use victorius.ctg book.

PS Load AquariumBookAdapter.exe in Fritz or Winboard as an engine.

Hi guys!

I am here to warn you about the new adapter version. This version stops many times, has many bugs and makes our computer open many engines. Use the only stable and better version 2.5, you can find here:

Hello! Let me correct my statement, the new version works fine, I used in Yahoo without problem , I think the problem was in InfinityChess in the past, works fine now in InfinityChess 3.6.7.2.

So you can use any Aquarium Book Adapter. My recomendation is the new version 08-Nov-2011 because the new options "Think in book" and "Name postfix". I love it !
