TLCS move error count problems

Postby Clemens Keck » 29 Jan 2012, 13:48

Hello WinBoard enthusiasts

I need help with the TLCV broadcasting. I am at the end with my knowledge right now.
On one machine all is working fine. Moves are correctly read from the winboard.debug file and a verry nice broadcast is working with the chess viewer.
On the other machine I always get a raising move error count at the TLCserver. It is showing the participants correctly, but strange moves on the board are seen which does not fit with the running game. Move error count climbs with every move. I cleaned the debug file, but always the same.
What am I doing wrong?

Please help, on my notebook were I dont need it it is working, and on my quad were I want o use it it is not working :-(

regards, Clemens Keck

That happened to me when :

1) Engine used GUI book (which seems not to be your case)
2) Engines are not playing from initial position but from PGN or FEN files.

Hello Andres

thank you verry much for this good help. Indeed that gui book was the problem. This should be mentioned in the WinBoard help file because it is not easy to find out.
It is working now verry nice when I insert local IP adress on another PC of my home network. I when I use skulltrail.dyndns.org port 16101, it is not working.
Maybe it does not work inside the same network?

Right, if both PCs has the same internet IP address...

I am able to connect to your broadcast just now (you weren't there :-) ), so it does work

It should be mentioned in the TLCS help file. Or better yet, it should be fixed in TLCS, as it is a clear TLCS bug.

As far as WinBoard is concerned, TLCS/V does not exist.
