preventing early draw

Postby Uri Blass » 29 Nov 2005, 04:04

I can see in CEGT some early draw like the following game.

probably the position is a draw but I think that it is not good to let the interface decide about it.

I wonder if printing evaluation of 0.01 instead of 0.00 for draw can prevent the fritz gui to adjudicate game as draw without justice when the sides can still blunder.

If it is the case maybe it is better if programmers tell their program never to print 0.00 evaluations.

Re: preventing early draw

Hi Uri :) ,

yes, this is another miserable thing in ChessBase GUI?s.

Just let me tell that we had a vote in our discussion group if to remove the early draws with less than 20 moves from our database for rating calculation.

There was an equal number of votes (yes or no), so nothing was changed.

One comment here from my side given before the vote:

just checked that the amount of draws with less than 20 moves is 204 games. This are less than 0.4 per cent out of a database of almost 52000 games. In other words 4 games out of 1000.

But...Fruit versions are involved here with 39 games! Fritz versions including Deep Fritz with 13 games.

Best Regards
Heinz
