Winboard text move output

Postby Revolt » 20 Jan 2015, 04:29

Hi ...
Is it possible to have winboard output text moves , such as E2-E4.
I know it accepts them thru its keyboard 'type in' interface.

It's move history shows only the destination square and not the origin.

thx

This is not possible. WinBoard always shows the moves there in standard algebraic notation (SAN). This is much more easier to read than 'long algebraic' (which is why it has become standard, I suppose).

Long algebraic notation is only used in communication with the engines. Which means WinBoard can read both, as it uses the same move parser everywhere.
