Fritz 6 GUI

How would I install a UCI engine to the Fritz 6 GUI?

Using adapters will weaken the engine?

You cannot install UCI engines in Fritz 6, it is too old.
UCI support came in later versions of Fritz.

Hi Guenther,

It's possible but it's not too easy. 2 (!!) adapters need to use:

UCI Engines et ChessBase (in French).

Only if you rely in the end again on CBs crappy WB adapter, which is of
course untolerable. BTW the described method in your page additionally
uses the also buggy UCI2WB adapater by Roland Pfister. It should
be by far replaced with Polyglot, but still you would need again the
crappy WB-CB adapter in the end. Hence no solution.
Much better is to use a newer GUI.

Consider upgrading to 9 - Search for 'Fritz Chess 9' sold under licence significantly cheaper - I paid ?15 on offer instead of ?40 before christmas only missing a training video!

Hi Guenther,

I don't write that is a good solution, I just say it's possible.

Just a little remark: with Fritz 7 GUI, the update from 2002.01.22 must be installed to use UCI Engines with no particular adapter.

Regards,
Patrick

I know Patrick, sorry if I was a bit harsh ;)
OTH I am sure he'll find a copy of F7 (or newer ones)
as a cheapo somewhere in the net. F6 is 7 years old now...
