WildCat 6 bugs

Postby Graham Banks » 31 Mar 2006, 21:23

When WildCat's king is exposed to a horizontal rook check, it will interpose with its own rook on an unprotected square, thus giving up its rook for nothing.
I've also seen this happen involving giving up its queen when a horizontal queen check is given.

Losses on time are also a problem now and then.

Hi Graham,
In my tournaments this version of WildCat didn't cause me any troubles and I've never observed these odd moves....It played 32 games till now with long time controls under Arena!
Maybe the ChessBase GUI has some impact over this problem :?:
Cheers

Hi Wael,

good to hear from you.

I've had the occasional problem with WildCat 6 under all of the following GUIs - Deep Fritz 8, Hiarcs 10 and Shredder Classic.

I'm considering whether or not to include WildCat 6 in my future tournaments due to these occasional problems.
This would be a shame as I quite like this engine.

Regards, Graham.

Hi Graham,
So that's make me even more sure that it's a GUI and/or an adapter problem :|
Installed as a pure winboard engine,it doesn't show these problems and plays quite strong 8-)
Cheers,

The wb2uci adaptor that I use is dated 16/6/05 and is 244kb in size.
I don't have problems with any other engines using this adaptor.

Regards, Graham.
