Beginning with Winboard : two small issues

Postby Olivier Deville » 15 Jun 2006, 10:52

Hi all :)

As a new Winboarder, I have a few newbie questions :)

I have installed Winboard_x this morning and pieces are moving  I could even set up the broadcast, it works fine.

Here are the two small issues I have encountered so far :

- I have added /pgnExtendedInfo=true in winboard.ini, but the eval/ply don't show in the pgn

- Winboard writes the name of the exe or the internal name of the engine in the pgn file, instead of using the name I set up with the /name option

Thanks in advance for your help :)

Hi Olivier,

Do you check this option after you set it?
Have you NOW line
"/pgnExtendedInfo=true"
in your winboard.ini?

Yes, Winboard do it. You can use my IG WBTM to set the right names ;).

Hi Igor

Thanks for your answer :)

Yes I have just checked, and the line is still set to "true". I'll make more tests.

And as for the WBTM, I don't know yet which one I will choose. Good to know that yours fixes this flaw :)

Setting /showThinking=true solved the eval/ply issue :) It would be nice to have the time used by the engine, like do other GUIs. Maybe next Winboard-x version ?

Hi Olivier,

If you need more info than score/depth you can also use
George Lyapkos tool LGDEBPGN it can save the time in
different! ways, the nps, the total nodes and whatever...

Best regards,
Guenther
