Which database for FRC games?

Postby Volker Pittlik » 30 Jul 2006, 09:43

Playing around with FRC engines I noticed I don't have a proper database for it.

Taking a PGN for a FRC game in UCI style for example:

[Event "Computer chess game"]
[Site "vlk-ubuntu"]
[Date "2006.07.29"]
[Round "1"]
[White "Glaurung 1.2.1"]
[Black "Shredder Classic 1.3"]
[Result "0-1"]
[TimeControl "180+3"]
[Variant "fischerandom"]
[FEN "nbrqknbr/pppppppp/8/8/8/8/PPPPPPPP/NBRQKNBR w HChc - 0 1"]
[SetUp "1"]

{--------------
n b r q k n b r
p p p p p p p p
. . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . .
P P P P P P P P
N B R Q K N B R
white to play
--------------}
1. c4 c6 2. Nb3 f6 3. e3 Qb6 4. Ng3 Qb4 5. Rc3 Be5 6. a3 Qa4 7. d4 Bxg3 8.
hxg3 Bxc4 9. Bc2 Qb5 10. Nc5 Nb6 11. b3 Bf1 12. Nxb7 Bxg2 13. Bd3 Qd5 14.
Rh5 g5 15. Rh6 d6 16. Qg4 Rb8 17. Bc4 Nxc4 18. bxc4 Qe6 19. Qxe6 Nxe6 20.
Rb3 Kd7 21. Kd2 g4 22. Ke2 Ng5 23. Rh2 Bh3 24. Rh1 Nf3 25. Kd1 c5 26. Na5
cxd4 27. exd4 Nxd4 28. Rb4 Nf3 29. Kc2 Bg2 30. Rh2 Nxh2 31. Bxh2 Rhc8 32.
Rxb8 Rxb8 33. Nb3 Rc8 34. Nd2 Rc5 35. Bg1 Re5 36. f4 gxf3 37. Bxa7 f5 38.
a4 Ra5 39. Bf2 Rxa4 40. Kb3 Ra1 41. Kb2 Ra8 42. Kc3 e5 43. Bg1 e4 44. Bf2
h5 45. Kb2 Re8 46. Bd4 e3 47. Nxf3 Bxf3 48. Bc3
{White resigns} 0-1

I noticed Scid is confused by the HChc tag. The test version of Shredder even avoids to notice that there is game at all.

I can same the games in simple text files and make a table in a spreadsheet of course. A database is more comfortable obviously.

Someone has to recommend one? It should support the UCI style notation.
