Hint: If you look at the link it is named 'rwbc' in the first place
and if you look at the permanent link above in this forum, it
is called 'Engines History (RWBC)'. This means the owner of
RWBC is responsible. If you ever had used the 'Index' button
from my WB chronology page(s), you would have found the
main 'RWBC' site too and of course my impressum

1. My name is Nicolai, not Nicola. Nicola may be a male name in e. g. Italy, but it is a female name where I come from. So it'd be nice if that could be corrected. I think I've asked for this before, but apparently only the "current" version number has been updated so far.
I will correct your name, it seems I forgot about your mail, because
it was inmidst of the heatwave in middle of July and during the start
of current Open Class in RWBC(researched my mail folders), sorry for this.
Nicolai Czempin wrote:2. The first public release of Eden was 0.0.3, not 0.0.4. I've only recently (re-)discovered this. The reason for the confusion is probably that I've mentioned the version number in all the release headings except the very first one. Perhaps I'll add it retro-actively.
I can only count reliably 'found' released WB/UCI programs there.
If it was not announced in the usual places it simply cannot be listed.
You can be sure that there are a lot of WB/UCI programs
out released but never found by the user community as the authors
didn't care to announce it in some well known places.
I guess someone found your version 0.04 once and it was reported.
If no one cares to correct that it was released earlier,
(if it can be proven at all later, as web sites change a lot during
2.5 years) only the actual proven facts can be counted of course.
(BTW I still found Eden 0.05 on my machine from April 28th 2004 and
its readme only mentions a predecessor 0.04 no 0.03 or something before.)
Note also that the chronolgy originally only was about _WB programs_
and I have added all UCI later at once, after Polyglot
was developed and out of beta stage.
I have no idea if the website did already exist in April 2004
(in that form) but it is explicitely told that real
release date and date of being found by the CC community can
_of course_ differ.
The disclaimer at my pages says:- Code: Select all
Free *released Winboard/UCI programs sorted by *Release Date
- Code: Select all
*(or date of discovery by the CC-Community)
I had foreseen that once it could happen that someone would
came and perhaps say: 'I have released XYZ already 1966!!
Why is the entry wrong?' Then I would have put his nose to
my disclaimer and say, well no one ever heard of it and it was never
announced nor found anywhere/anytime in the net except yesterday
Nicolai Czempin wrote:4. Starting with version 0.0.10, it is also a WB engine, but I guess this part would probably have been included in the next version that mentions at least this version (currently 0.0.9 is displayed, the currently released version is 0.0.11), and I don't want to appear as too impatient on this part, because surely it is a nuisance to keep changing the table every time I release a new version (which happens fairly frequently at the moment). But 1) - 3) are facts that are stable, so I'd love it if they were corrected in the next version of that table (and its equivalents elsewhere).
Of course the tables (BTW it's not one, but 6 tables created
from a database locally and transformed to slim not ugly
bloated automatic html output) will not be updated on daily basis
but once per month or less.
It is a free sparetime project of mine and I guess it would have
been easy to find my mail out and write to me again.
I have corrected the items already locally but you have to wait
for the next updates. Meanwhile my site moves anyhow,
which is the reason it is currently down. Probably it will appear
again under a new link on Sunday/Monday.
Anyway thanks for the corrections and good luck for
your further development of Eden.

Guenther
