[OT] CCC vanished?

No php error but a much worse 'not found' message?
Does anyone know more, did they decide to stop the
forum at all?

What a waste of resources. They need to rather go learn how to weave baskets. I was online around the time CCC went offline. I replied to a post by Uri and got off for few minutes to grab something to eat, next thing I know is that I am getting the error message.

Uhh, it's gettin' worse, now if I give the main sites address
I can access the directory listing(which should be disabled
normally) and it shows _zero_ files anymore.

Hi Guenther,

i would say let's wait :)
We can't change anything and we're all see the same. No need to post webserver stuff anyway.

Best,
Daniel

Message from the CCC owner:
I called the ISP, and they said they were experiencing problems on that server. Hopefully, it will be back up soon. We may have to take the site elsewhere to have some more reliability. The last few weeks have been disappointing.

Based on my experience I can only suggest to change the ISP. PhpBB has an internal backup function (which does not work if the database exceeds a certain size). There are several tools to do a backup. Some ISPs offer the opportunity to download an SQL backup of the database (and even make a daily backup themselve).

I download the SQL backup of this forum daily to my local computer. It needs only a few minutes. CCC has more messages and more members so it will take a bit longer, but that is not a principal problem.

To restore the database should take longer (a few hours when moving the forum from the old ISP to this one), but when the forum is down for longer it is not a problem of backup/restore (if you have a backup at all).
