CINAG source available

Postby Tony Thomas » 14 Dec 2006, 09:44

CINAG is an UCI computer chess engine. This is a module which thinks about the game and try to find the best move for each position. Our goal is to create a quite strong opponent by using state of the art AI technics.

As soon as I read the above I thought I had found another chess engine. To my surprise it doesnt play chess under arena as a UCI engine, since the source is available I thought I should post it here.

Here is the link for you Jim.

Tony,

Adding to your statement, the author only released a standalone 3d chess GUI for the user to test how it plays. I was also fooled then on the quoted statement that it took me quite some time to think that it isn't playable in any WB/UCI GUI like Arena. At least, the program plays a good chess game and uses a book database too. It's probably an abandoned chess project like Simontacchi based on the last release and project pages. Here is another link:
http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/cinag/ -- (quite older)

I've been working on the source files to port it with Winboard (privately) but had not been successful yet - not my line. Maybe Speedy Jim could make a fast magic tweak. He's the only one I know who makes these magical chess makeovers. It's his trademark, I guess.

Regards

Hello Tony/Juan,

Maybe Speedy Jim could make a fast magic tweak

It'll take more than a 'fast magic tweak' I'm afraid. I've already compiled the old source into an engine, but winboard support
is broken (a lot of commands are in there but disabled or not functioning.) and doesn't run.

I may take another look at it once all my current projects are finished satisfactorily i.e all the bugs are gone in SCP, Vanillachess,
APILchess, Braincrack and a few others. Fixing them is taking up most of my free time at the moment.

Jim.

I will wait, dont waste time if it isnt stronger than TSCP. I played against the standalone version, it actually played quiet well, then I again I am not a very strong player.

Jim,

I 2nd d' motion with Tony's reply. "Fast magic tweak" is just my term for your talent, and I know it's not that easy to edit and compile any source file lurking around the net. I'll try to work on it too while waiting!.
