My new pgn utility tool called "splitPgn" separates a pgn file into a user-specified number (2-12) of files, with all games intact. And each file has the "same" number of games. By "same" I mean that the number of games per file does not differ by more than "1" game.

For example, if I split a file with 98 games into 6 files, the new files will have 17, 17, 16, 16, 16 and 16 games respectively.

Oh, the "pigeons" you ask? The even distribution of games is based on the "Pigeon Hole Principle" in Math.

"splitPgn.exe" is part of my "40H" project now consisting of 20 pgn utility tools. "40H" can be downloaded from Jim Ablett's site:
