Master Jim, any fix/tip in compiling a 64-bit version? Building a 32-bit with some minor editing works fine but had compiling errors on 64-bit mostly on the smp code. I've already mentioned it at CCC though. But I'll try to find some ways to make this work while waiting for a response. As they say, "No pain , no gain".

Hi Denis,

Master Jim, any fix/tip in compiling a 64-bit version?

I'm in the same position as you here Denis. I'm just beginning to dip my toes in the murky waters of 64 bit. I haven't attempted serious any 64-bit compiling yet
as I don't have a 64-bit version of windows xp (copy on the way!) with which to run the necessary testing/profiling required.

The expert in compiling 64-bit Crafty compiles (and other 64-bit engines) is Bryan Hoffman. Maybe you could pm/email him or perhaps he'll read this thread and offer some tips.

Rgds,
Jim.

Like you, I was just forced to use this new 64-bit language. I presume Dann Corbitt too is in the same posiition as we are, as I had similar answers when I requested help to compile 64 bit codes. "Murky" or whatever, this makes it more interesting Big Brother. Your advices are always 100% :D , so it will be done as stated.

Jim, I made some success in building a 64-bit using your "fixed_Crafty_21.6_src_for_compiling_single_cpu". It was a great help. Thanks.

The code seems to be faster at 64-bit mode using only a single thread. To those interested, here's a link for the MSVC 2005 compile (with pgo of course).
