ZCT0.3.2442 Semi-official release

Postby Zach Wegner » 30 Apr 2008, 06:07

Hello everyone,

I have just hacked up an official release of the code, primarily to stop the spread of distributions without code and code without a copyright notice and license. I kind of had an "Oh s**t!!" moment a few hours ago, when I realized that not giving out a link to my new sourceforge account does not entail any amount of privacy. While I am kind of upset that ZCT was "released" without my knowledge, I won't do anything to stop it; I brought it upon myself. It needed to be released soon anyway, and having it out in the open will motivate me to fix each and every problem.

So, if you navigate over to http://zct.cvs.sourceforge.net/zct/zct/ you can grab all the source code, complete with the GPL license. From here on I will ask that everybody deletes all the files that they downloaded that don't contain source and a license notice, as it was never intended to be released that way.

As ZCT is still very much a work-in-progress, I ask that any bug reports/fixes be sent to me through sourceforge or email. I want to keep everything in the code under my copyright for now, and I also have rather strict ideas of code cleanliness that I like to uphold. Of course, it's GPL, so do whatever the hell you want, but do consider being kind...

I also ask that nobody attempt to fix the DTS code, because that is something of a personal battle with me that I want to do 100% of. I have a paper that I've been working on that goes along with the source, to help others in writing a DTS search. I'll finish that soon and stick it on the site.

So enough with the jabbering. Just go ahead and enjoy ZCT...

Thanks Zack.
I will enjoy going through your DTS code.
I wanted to do that myself but couldn't because of an
on and off programming style. DTS is surely a twisted method
which needs full concentration.
cheers

You're quite welcome Daniel. There are some minor bugs in there, but for the most part it's a complete implementation. So far you are the only programmer who has thanked me for ZCT's code, so let me know what you think about the DTS (and anything else of course).

And yes, DTS is very twisted. It's taken me about 4 years to get it where it is now...
