Many thanks for this new Arena release. I'm downloading it now.

I do have one question though. Previously i've always avoided the Arena setup files, and instead downloaded the zip files and simply replaced the updated files. I have done this because of a fear of losing my current Arena settings. Is there an option in this setup file that allows keeping the current Arena settings?

Again, Many thanks
Dave

Hello David,

I answer in haste but I believe that if you use the zip and overwrite that should retain your settings.

King Regards

Christopher

Yes, but the link is for arena_11_setup1.exe, not a zip file.

One question

Frank sent me a version 1.1 preresease 1 some time ago for testing. Is this 1.1 very different from that prerelease?

But I am dealing with that, as you know. Not compromise, but I am nearly there....prepare for what you told me to do.

You see...in public ....now all ask ...what is that? But I must find it myself not them and when I have time.

Kind Regards

I'll won't tell if you don't.

And my post was a friendly jab, I know you have been busy with the new release. No hurry.

Hello Herr Christopher:
Some options and menu names of Arena 1.1 appear in German in my PC, nevertheless English language is selected. This did not happened with previous 1.092 version.
Any comment is wellcome.
Merry Christmas to everybody.
Prosit !!

Hello Herr Pablo,

:)

Yes that is helpful and easy to solve. Could you give us exact details by mail and I will post them for you for Martin's perusal please?

Language files.....only those who speak them know......very helpful.

First Impressions

Postby Dan Honeycutt » 18 Dec 2004, 07:35

I downloaded Arena 1.1 soon as I saw Christopher's post and it now has a couple dozen games under it's belt.

Setup went smooth, two access denied errors when it tried to update merida.ttf and anothe font. I deleted them from win/sys, hit retry and it carried on. I installed it on top of my Arena 1.0 and all my engines and settings were intact when I started 1.1.

No time losses for anybody, the 1.0 time forfeit bug hopefully fixed but this was rare so I'll keep an eye out.

New look to the depth, pv, etc display area looks nice.

Only strange thing it has three times now grabbed the focus at the end of a game when it was minimized. This could be a problem if I want to do a little testing on my computer at work - my boss walks in and suddenly a chessboard appears on my screen :|
