To Gabor and the others that volunteered,

I am a little behind but its a good thing. I've spent more time than
planned on the move generator analyzing three different move
algorithms. Looks like I'll go with bitboard, but I do have a fourth
idea.

Also, spending time dreaming up a name for it. My family has come
up with ideas to help, but no decision yet.

Here are some of the names thus far:
Abaris, Aristotle, Abner, Amadeus, Aaron, Adhara.....
Celestial references (Astronomy is one of my hobbies)
Almach (also means middle eastern wildcat:binary yellow/blue)
Albireo (beta star at base of cygnus: "binary" star gold/blue
Shifty (bitboards do lots of shift operations)
Daughters thoughts: Jaguar
Son's thoughts: Raptor
Wife's thoguths: Leviathan, telepath

However, the big trick in the program could be a new aggressive forward pruning algorithm that I've dreamed up. I've done some paper analysis and it seems good. But, we'll see later. That is where the conceptual name telepath came from. "It sees deeper. It sees the plan you thought you could hide".

If you or anybody else has an idea for a name or vote for one of the
above, I'm willing to listen.

Charles

As I am also an astronomy lover I would suggest a celestial name. I would probably choose one of the bright stars from the belt of my favourite constellation, Orion.

Reviewing the names of three stars in the belt, there seems only one of interest. The name translates to "Amazon Star".

Which one were you thinking of?

Hi,

I'm also interested by Astronomy ...

Why not "Supernova" or "Quasar" or "Deep Impact", and so on ...

Regards.

Telepath is a nice name IMHO. On the astronomical theme I like "Light Year" (boo, unoriginal!) and "Coat Hanger", the latter being my favorite of course! :)
Maybe "Leap Second" too...
