New Chess Engine ZL v1.0 by Josue Vazquez

Hello:

Download ZL v1.0 in www.zl-v1.cjb.net. Download now!!

ZL v1.0 play variant normal.
ELO: 2000

Also there is an update to known clone KasparovX which the author states is no longer a clone (I'll let you make your own mind up about this one.)

Hello Winboard user and Author of Chess engine. I developed a new
version of KasparovX. So my new engine play more stronger than my
old and last version. Many error in the past. I can review my code
and make some different. My new engine is not a clone anymore. I
change my opening book is more big and ,more stronger. I want to add
the function of set hash table by user on ini file. And make my
engine support EGTB file. I am study the Crafty code to take some
idea and implement on my new code. My new engine is available at:
http://kasparovx.tripod.com/homepage.html

KasparovX v2.1 in Spanish but I want to make another version in
English. So working on Winboard or Arena.

It looks like the KasparovX author may have had a hand in creating
ZL engine too.

According to my best friend. He talk to me he want to make your own
chess engine. I tell to him about my chess engine based on TCSP Idea
code. But Josue and me study the Crafty code to take some idea to
make another chess engine. But I try to study many chess code
download on the internet. And finish the job and well done. I test
ZL again KasparovX on my Home Arena Tournament. Zl, KasparovX,
Crafty, Sjeng, Dragon, Ruffian, GNUChess, Amon, TSCP, SOS, Nejemet,
GNUChes5, Ajedrez_Tactico, Fimbulwinter5.00. 14 chess engine on this
tournament. ZL get the 5th place, I got 6th place. Ruffian won the
tournament. Crafty on 3th place , Nejemet on the 2th place, Sjeng,
TSCP lost tornament 0.00. I think ZL get about 2339 ELO, KasparovX
2300 ELO that is great. But I am not sure because the rating elo get
by Arena I run ELoStats to get the engine elo. But is estimated.

I would be very carefully with these programs Jim.
KasparovX was not his last clone...actually he made another one
and spread it around as gift for Volker and me and some other TDs.
Moreover (what a coincendence) since the next day after Volker
had announced that clone suspicions were found(and proven a day later),
I received several viruses every day for a while from 2 Southamerican
addresses and from Portugal.

P.S. I bet they come again now after this post

Hello again,

I had a quick first look at ZL.
Guess what I found in the exe:

*Hello! I am Sjeng and hope you enjoy playing with me.*

Well this is no proof of anything, but you see, a closer look
is already necessary.
It is also surprising that learning is already implented and I read
some stuff about tablebase usage in the exe though it does not
use them?

Hello Guenther,

I haven't checked the engines out yet, so I don't
want to jump to conclusions but from what you've
discovered it does looks like he's up to his old
tricks again. Why does he bother?

Jim.

I think he was using a free Tripod account to host his downloads which is not allowed under their rules of service.

Hi Pradu,

You're right his hosting at Bravenet was also suspended.
If anybody want to test/analyse the ZL engine to see if it's
a clone, I have it.

No thanks. I find the game of "Which engine is this a clone of?" is rather boring. I've played it before and there is not much joy in it.

By the time you have been caught more than once lying about what you have done, I think the burden of proof becomes much larger upon your shoulders that you have changed your ways and are no longer a sneak-thief.

IMO-YMMV

So is the author. Translated from his site - "Estimated rating is 2600. A rating that not even I could have imagined"

If you know Spanish the description is good for a few chuckles. I especially enjoyed the description of the phash command - so the pawns move faster at the end of the game.
