Did these losses on time happen very often? Why was Nimzo taken out of WBEC?
It happend mostly short after the last bookmove and 4 to 8 times/68 games.Did these losses on time happen very often? Why was Nimzo taken out of WBEC?
I cannot claim very big experience with Nimzo2000b, but I've run a few matches in Winboard and also in CM9000's WB supported Tournament Room, and it never crashed or lost on time from the beginning of a game. These games were on shorter time controls than 40/40, but without ponder though.
It is known from other Nimzo Engines that they loose on time quite often, unfortunately, but in a "normal" way at the end of a long game, and typically at short or very short time controls. (I wasn't aware of that about Nimzo2000b yet.)
It's a bit sad IMO when Nimzo shouldn't appear in the WBEC competition, because - being one of the oldest commercial WB engines - I think it is like a kind of "performance barrier" for new professionals which they should cross (comparable to Crafty for the strongest freeware engines).
I just saw Nimzo isn't even included among your engine info page anymore (?!).

Mike Scheidl
