That's very impressive! And it beat Chess Tiger too. Most of those programs I've never seen before, like CHESS WIZARD, BB CHESS, XIE LONG, GEMIE, and SMALL C. I don't know how strong CAPTURE is, but I think AnMon is clearly stronger than Zchess or Dragon.

Winning against Chess Tiger is very impressive, no doubt about that. However, they only played 6 rounds as far as I can tell from your news ticker, so it's a lot like flipping a coin to decide the winner.

http://www.cent.co.yu/chess/welcome.htm used to have some info on Chess Wizard and Capture I think..I suspect these 2 if released would rank equally as the best winboard engines..
I wonder if Christian will release a "Champion" edition of Anmon like after Dr Hyatt did when Crafty won the ICC tournament..

AnMon - Chess Tiger 1:0 (78 moves)
Now 2:1 for Chess Tiger )
It is right ... 6 rounds !
But look the other tourneys (WM, Aegon ...)

What were the timecontrols for the games?
Yes, the amount of rounds, or lack of it, does make it a problem to decide a "real" winner IMO. I believe that the swiss system is better suited for human players than computer tournaments, mainly because computer performance fluctuate a lot. The time control at Massy was short enough to make it at least a round robin tournament IMO.
Naturally, it's better to have short tournaments than no tournaments at all. Winning is important, no matter what kind of tournament it is. That goes without saying.

Well all we need know is to somehow get SOS 2000 to win a tournament and we can have that as well..
And also others of course..
