Hello,
10 minutes games:
SOS - AnMon 5.00 = 7 - 3 !!
Incredible!
Of course ten games are not sufficient to measure the strength of SOS
but IMHO it is very strong (probably among the five strongest winboard chess programs).
It plays good positionnal chess but when it has a bad position it sacrifices, look:

Hello Alexandre,
"A new winboard monster is born". It's not a new winboard monster, it's old.
It is a very strong german amateur program, that reached good results in many computer chess tournaments in the last years.
greetings
Andreas

Having done a quick comparison of the strings in the sos.exe against the programs of Crafty, GNU (old version), Phalanx, and TCB, (all programs with source available) I do not notice any relationship between SOS and any of those programs. SOS does seem to be a new program in my opinion oweing nothing in paticular to anyone elses work.
