Please help check Snailchess is faile clone? yes?
I had downloaded Snail, but I no longer have it. In the text that comes with Snail he does say that it is based on Faile but I don't know to what extent. My guess is that it uses Faile's move generator, very likely it also used Faile's xboard.c file. Snail does not use an opening book though while Faile does, so I would assume that it contains some original code. Please help check Snailchess is faile clone? yes?
I've made several games and it seems to me that Snail is a bit weaker than Faile. Anyway, it sometimes makes the moves predicted by Faile.I had downloaded Snail, but I no longer have it. Faile itself is a nice program, it contains a very very small amount of code and plays a relaxing game. I don't recall anything about any licencing aggreements involved in useing Faile code, but if you have a C compiler I'd definately recomend downloading the Faile source code, it compiles very easily as a Dos program too.
